Access to Whidbey Island

There are 3 ways to get onto Whidbey island. Travel Hint: you may want to stop at a grocery store or restaurant before arriving at the Blue House Aerie.

  • FROM THE SOUTH by the Mukilteo - Clinton ferry, the schedules for this ferry route are here, the webcams by the Mukilteo terminal can be viewed here, the cameras by the Clinton terminal can be viewed here. There is a grocery store, Payless Foods, in Freeland as well as a number of restaurants in Clinton, Langley and Freeland.

  • FROM THE NORTH across Deception Pass. The Washington State webcams between Burlington and Oak Harbor can be viewed here. Note that traffic will be slow in the Deception Pass State Park. In Oak Harbor you will find a variety of restaurants and grocery stores as well as in Coupeville.

  • FROM THE WEST by the Port Townsend - Coupeville ferry; there are webcams at Port Townsend and the Coupeville terminals. Reservation for this route are highly recommended. To make a reservation, follow these steps, first go to the Washington State Ferries Vehicle Reservations web page.

1. Select Port Townsend

2. Select Date of travel

3. Vehicle length and height, most cars, and SUV will be under 22 feet and up to 7 feet 2 inches then select the Availability button

4. On the chart, select the time of day, this table will also show if there is space available on each sailing. Once the sailing is selected, the Add To Cart button will show up; select that button. The selection will show up on the right column. You can check out or make a reservation for a round trip. On the new page that come up for the checkout, select Check out as a guest to complete the reservation.
